Roger is a native of Meridian, Mississippi, and received degrees from Mississippi State University (Bachelor of Professional Accounting) and the University of Alabama (Masters of Tax Accounting). A CPA licensed in Alabama and Florida, Roger began working for KPMG, the world’s largest public accounting firm, in their Tampa, Florida Office. After moving to Alabama, Roger joined and helped form Boatner & Pugh, LLC in Gadsden, Alabama. Roger specializes in Income Tax Planning and Income Tax Savings, and he works in various areas, including medical practices, manufacturing, and construction. Roger is a member of the AICPA, the ASCPA, and the NE Alabama Chapter of Alabama Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves on the boards for the Alabama Federal Tax Clinic (former president), the Gadsden Country Club (treasurer), the Gadsden Youth Football Association (treasurer), the 5W Club (treasurer), Smart Bank Advisory, and the Etowah County Mega Sports Complex. Past involvement includes serving on the boards of BBVA Compass Bank, Gadsden City School System Foundation (former chairman), Gadsden Center for Cultural Arts, The Gadsden Kiwanis Club (former president), Break Away Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (past Chairman), Episcopal Day School, and the United Way of Etowah County. Roger also has served his church as a Deacon, Finance Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, TV Director, and youth Basketball Coach. He also has served the community in youth sports, including baseball, football, basketball, girls’ softball, and tennis.
Roger has been married to his wife Beth (Elizabeth Patterson Boatner) for over 30+ years and resides in Rainbow City, Alabama. They have two children – Nolan and Sydney, who live and work in Birmingham, AL.
Daniel is a Gadsden native and 2001 graduate of Auburn University, where he received a Master’s in accountancy. He worked in Birmingham after graduation until 2006, when he moved back home with his wife to continue his career at (then) Willis Boatner & Whiteside, LLC. Daniel was admitted as a partner of the firm in 2010. His focus is primarily on healthcare practices and related fields, serving medical professionals in Alabama and across the country.
Daniel is married to Rachel, and they have two boys, David and Jacob.
Cindy is originally from Maryville, Tennessee, and graduated from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Cindy loves to solve puzzles, and accounting is the perfect outlet. Cindy came to work at Boatner & Pugh in 2019 and is an accounting specialist working with monthly and quarterly bookkeeping and accounting write-ups. Cindy has been married since 1995 to Keith and has two sons: Luke (24), who lives in Texas and is a Product Design Engineer at Kubota, and Levi (18), a freshman at Gadsden State. Keith, Levi, and Cindy live in Tillison Bend.
Lynn is a Payroll Specialist and tax credit processor. She has been a payroll specialist for 20+ years. Lynn has been working with us since March 2021. She currently lives in Hokes Bluff with her husband, Scott. She has two daughters, Karlie and Kasie, and a son-in-law Brad. She enjoys helping clients prepare, organize, and grow their businesses.
Angie is our Payroll Manager. She also does Sales Tax and Accounting General Ledger work. She is a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School. Angie lives in Attalla with her husband, Jimmy. They have one son Seth. She enjoys assisting our clients with their payroll needs. She also enjoys attending church as a Sunday school teacher and on the Finance Committee.
Laura graduated in Court Reporting from Gadsden State and worked in that profession for 15 years. In 2017, Laura came to work for Boatner & Pugh. She went from words to numbers and decided she liked numbers better. Laura is a specialist in our payroll department and oversees all the sale tax returns prepared in our office. She also works on accounts payable for several of our bigger clients.
Laura has three children – Caleb, Hunter, and Lillie, and one grandson, Miles. Laura lives in Rainbow City.
Jeanne was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, but moved to Jacksonville, Alabama, in her senior year of high school. After working in several accounting practices, Jeanne joined Boatner and Pugh in 2022. Jeanne’s favorite part of accounting is doing bank and account reconciliations. Jeanne likes to figure out how to make the numbers match. Jeanne likes to spend time with her seven nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and nephews.
Andrea graduated from Kennesaw State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She was hired in May of 2022. Andrea enjoys accounting and the challenge of learning something new. She resides in Southside with her five children: Matia, Max, Joel, Mikey, and Jase. On the weekends, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Angela is the Front Desk Receptionist and Accounts, Receivable Clerk. She has worked in customer service for 40+ years. Angela lives in Gadsden with her husband, Gregory. They have one son, Calvin, and 2 grandkids, Carter and Carlee. Angela loves to volunteer; for example, she volunteers every year for the Brickroad to Success Golf Tournament for Autism. Angela loves spending time with her family, helping others, and working in the yard.
Stephanie has been with Boatner & Pugh since February 2022 and performs general ledger work and payroll. She graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Stephanie is originally from Rainbow City but has lived in Ashville for the past 12 years. She and her husband, Jonathan, have three amazing kids: Natalie, Nick, and Nate. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs, Willie and Rocky.
Danielle interned with us in the spring of 2022 and was hired full-time after graduation. She majored in accounting and minored in finance at Jacksonville State University. In May of 2022, she graduated and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Cum Laude. She is a member of the AICPA, ASCPA, and NSLS, and she is currently studying for the CPA exam. She was born and raised in Steele, Alabama. Outside work, she loves spending time outdoors with her friends, family, and her dog Baylee.
Austin is from Gadsden and received his Bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State. Later he attended Samford University and graduated with his Master’s degree in accounting. Austin came to work for Boatner & Pugh in 2020 and is the Audit and Financial Manager. Austin enjoys audits, reviews, compilations, and preparing and putting financial statements together. Austin currently lives with his wife (Aly) in Steele, Alabama.
Brandon was born and raised in Gadsden, AL. He went to college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he earned Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in accounting. After college, Brandon started his public accounting career in Birmingham while earning his CPA certification. In 2021, Brandon decided to move back home to Gadsden and joined Boatner & Pugh. Brandon’s favorite thing about public accounting is solving problems. Brandon is great at finding unreconciled differences, walking clients through complex tax situations, and resolving tax notices.
Brandon Matthews was born and raised in Gadsden. After playing Community College baseball for two years, Brandon went to Auburn University and graduated from their accountancy program after completing his final internship at Boatner & Pugh in the spring of 2020. Brandon is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys taking his boat out on Lake Guntersville with his girlfriend and trying to snag a big bass. Brandon genuinely enjoys accounting, especially income tax preparation. He is currently studying for the CPA exam.
Justin Wilson was born and raised in Gadsden, AL. He graduated from JSU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and forensic investigation. Justin lives in Southside with his wife, Laura, and two sons, Carter and John Robert. Justin is an active member of the Gadsden Rotary Club, recently serving as its president. Justin enjoys working with the community, coaching, and watching his boys play baseball and basketball.
